2013 Rocky Run Registration Form
Check out the 2012 Memorial Day album on our Facebook page!
A gorgeous sunny morning kicked off Rock River Bible Camp’s 2012 Memorial Day Picnic! Our First Annual Rocky Run was a huge success with nearly 90 registered runner/walkers. What a blessing!!!! Friends, family and eager runners came from all over to join us. The race started at 9 am with our Rocky the squirrel mascot in front giving the “go” signal.
As our runners energetically climbed the first hill, fans cheered on the sidelines with gusto. After just 12 minutes and 48 seconds, Chris Scott came in first place for the First Annual Rocky Run. Dueling for second place was Nate Bierdeman and Evan Westart. As they rounded the final curve of the run, they were side by side till Bierdeman, at 15 minutes and 43 seconds, pushed all he had to take second place! Brooke Smith gave it her all as she victoriously crossed the finish line at 16 minutes and 35 seconds for first place female! Way to go Brooke!! Barb Lauff came in second place at 17 minutes and 12 seconds. We even had Owen Milligan, grandson of Rick & Lucy Strub, come in at 19 minutes and 34 seconds to be the first child to cross the finish line!! Great job Owen!!
Overall the run was a great success while everyone enjoyed running, walking or cheering then enjoying food and fellowship. Make sure you take a look at ALL the participants’ results because everyone did a great job!
The delicious smells of home cooked food brought several hungry people together in the dining hall for lunch around noon. The tables were full of savory meat choices, pastas, fruit, and so much more. After gathering everyone together, Ed Cavanaugh gave thanks for the wonderful meal, the blessings God grants our beautiful camp and deepest heartfelt prayer for our brother Lewie Frye. Everyone enjoyed a great fellowship and a time to embrace what Rock River Bible Camp really is all about.
Shortly following the meal, the kids were getting antsy. Josie Willet, Hailey Kruger and Leah and Jordan Saunders rallied all the kiddies up for prize winning games, sidewalk chalk, face painting, fun with bubbles and a coloring contest! They definitely kept them busy! The coloring contest was a huge hit and left our judges in a frenzy with all the fantastic coloring pictures! Our winners were Krissy Royer, Tyler Steingraber and Mikayla Royer. Krissy Royer was the grand prize winner of them all! Great coloring and congratulations!! Naturally with there being so many fantastic coloring experts in the higher age brackets, there had to be a grand prize winner….Annette Carr your picture was exquisite in detail and beauty!! Fabulous job!!
The kids, young and old, enjoyed the rest of the afternoon playing Drip Drip Drop, a very popular water game similar to duck duck goose!
The bags tournament welcomed 14 skillful teams who battled for bragging rights and fantastic prizes! Victoriously winning the consolation bracket was Graham Boll & Warren! In a very close second place were Dave DeVries and Ron West! Nice throwing guys! Dan Grove & Colin Galor, who also played skillful games, took first place for our 2nd annual bags tournament. Congratulations everyone!! You are all winners at Rock River Bible Camp!!
I also want to say how wonderfully overwhelmed I was with all of the help we received in preparing for this big day at R.R.B.C. There were so many people who gave much of their time to come out and help clean, clear trails, cut trees, and just overall help give our beloved camp the love and attention needed to start another season of camp. We really could not do it without your love for the camp in this way. Thank you so very much!
I must also include all of the wonderful volunteers that made delicious muffins and brought all the delectable fruit!! I think all the Rocky Run participants were extremely grateful for such a nice spread of food after all their hard work on the course!
And finally my volunteers that did the Rocky Run registration, helped with timing (and handing out popsicle sticks), sold t-shirts, organized food, sold rocky raffle tickets, helped clean up and put away and so much more! Thank you thank you thank you!!! It is your love for Rock River Bible Camp that made the day a complete success!
It was a beautiful day to start the 2012 season at Rock River Bible Camp. Thanks to all who came and shared the day with us in food, fellowship and loads of fun!
